It was that one fateful night in 2012 when we met a small accident in Bagontaas, Valencia City. Apparently, the motorela that we rode in fell into an estimated 8-feet deep, 2-meter wide canal. Fortunately, everyone was safe and we didn’t get even a single bruise. But all our things were swimming in the foul-smelling canal. We had to fish farther for our friend’s bag because it was lost by the strong current.

Heavy rain

We were thinking of going home but as camp facilitators, we couldn’t disappoint the kids who were waiting for us. So we walked our way to the site. True enough, everyone was worried and amazed that we made it wound-free, only with a few body pains.

Here’s the most amazing and astonishing part:

We completely believed that nothing was spared inside our bags. It was soaked for about 5 minutes in the water and we even walked for 20 minutes under heavy rain. But God really does wonders! Our Bibles were saved!

Dry pages

Yes, everyone’s! I even placed mine in the uppermost part of my bag for easy access but I couldn’t believe my eyes when it was completely dry! All the other things inside were not spared; we had to borrow clothes from our MVC friends.

Yes, He saved the most important thing and He saved us. How great is our God!

Reflecting upon this event made me aware of the many miracles like this one I had experienced in my lifetime—both large and small.

Count your blessings

Then I began to see a larger picture: What if all of us experience miracles regularly but we do not talk about it?

What about you, have you ever experienced a miracle?

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand you save me. Psalm 138:7

As you reflect upon your life, ask yourself whether you have ever experienced a miracle and most likely the answer will be yes. Then consider trying to tally all of the miracles you have experienced.

Once you do so, most likely you will experience a feeling of gratitude, awe and wonder—yes, right under your own nose you have received many blessings—some large, some small but miracles all the same.

I want to hear your thoughts. See you in the comments section below.
