Random Thoughts For This Covid Situation

This pandemic has compelled a few realizations upon me

That collective cooperation in times of crises is almost impossible in a society of massive inequality.

That we cannot expect people who are economically marginalized to behave exactly the way we do, for whatever behaviors they have are results of their own economic conditions, largely different from ours.

That most of us are too detached from our reality.

That we tend to regard criticisms from others as purely reklamo when these are valid at least to them.

And since we are blinded by our own privileges, we’ll never realize that validity.

Day nth of the quarantine.

Time is a concept. I rely solely on the moon cycle to determine what day it is now.

I caught myself howling on the roof and the irong laaw (stray dog) replied.

I lead the pack now. We traverse the wilderness and I teach them.

We are learning from each other.

Until then, diary.

#KeepYourNailsSHORT

Among all the hand washing instructions and fun 20-second song suggestions, I haven’t yet seen anyone note that it is impossible to wash your hands properly if your fingernails are long.

If you can’t put your fingertips straight down against your other palm without your nails adding too much distance to do it, you cannot wash under your fingernails properly unless you use a nail brush every time.

Hand sanitizer won’t do the trick either.

If you can’t rub the very ends of your fingers against the other palm, your hands aren’t truly clean after you wash them, no matter how long you soap up.

Please, during this global emergency, KEEP YOUR NAILS SHORT.
