How To Get Your Church Rank First In Google

We’ve learned that when the church leads an online ministry culture, instead of doing online ministry independently, we find talented members committing to a local church.

Then the members become intentional in their engagement and involvement and not sticking to the same old method of sharing the messages, thus giving people an opportunity to discover what the body of Christ, the church, is truly like.

And finally, members become Christian local guides, guiding people to the front door of the church, reaching people virtually, yet touching them physically, because the need to love and be loved in person is still irreplaceable.

So by God's grace, our church is now online. But how do people find our church in the web?

Let’s start by asking where people go when they’re looking for something online - Google, Bing, Facebook.

And let’s say, they type in the search bar...

friendly church nearby
Accommodating church near me

Did you get this? The list goes on.

Child-friendly church
Church full of young people

Many people are confused about who we really are.

Could it be possible that one of the reasons they will know about us is because they have known us on the internet?

You try it, and see if you can find any hits for your local church of choice.

What are the most popular hits in your search?

People usually honor the top results.

Where do you think the hit came from?

Sometimes, it’s coming from one of the comments.

That’s why ratings and engagements, appropriate keywords, are very important. It adds value online.

Try if you can search your local church of choice in the web browser. If not, then let’s make it find-able.

  1. Go to Google Maps website or open it in the app. You can also do this to Bing and others, but so far Google is more popular.
  2. Type and search the location of your local church of choice. You can pan and zoom to get the closest view.
  3. You may want to shift to satellite view to get a clearer picture.
  4. If your local church is on the map, you can “suggest an edit”. If it’s not yet on the map, right click on the exact location of the building, you can “add a missing place” and add your local church.
  5. You can add or edit phone numbers and worship schedules.
  6. You can buy a domain and take advantage of the free website builder, then showcase the pictures, videos and updates of the local church.

Setting up your church in Google Maps listing is simply one of the many things technology can do for the gospel.

The point is, when we upgrade, we can connect to people. Who knows!

Using this strategy, I have listed many churches on the map already even if they’re not my local church.

Then rated, commented a significant description of the church for Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and added some pictures.

You too can do the same. You’re an online missionary, Christian local guide, remember?

You’re guiding people to the church’s front door.

Every time you visit or virtually visit a church, leave a rating, write a comment for SEO, add appropriate pictures and videos, and spread it online.

At the same time, you’re enjoying it. You can even check your status or points as a local guide in Google.
